Corner View~Collections

Thanks, Francesca for coming up with this topic! This is going to be so fun to write about!
I have a lot of collections of things. First of all, I collect stones. Here's a picture of them:

I also collect those little things that they put inside pizza boxes. They look like mini three-legged tables, so I call them "pizza tables." Skylar made a sculpture out of some of them. shes probably going to add the rest to the sculpture soon. She used a glue gun. All together I have 23

 

Also, I don't know if you would call this a collection, but every time I lose a tooth, I leave the tooth fairy a note, asking her to let me keep my tooth, so I have some of my old teeth.

PARTY!!!!!!!

Last night we had a party for my dad's 14th CD. My dad played his CD for everyone, and it sounded great! Everybody (including me) loved it. It started at seven, so it wasn't a dinner party. It was a DESERT party! Now, I'm just saying for the record, you should never have a dessert party with unsupervised kids. I think that's the most sugar I've ever had in one sitting! There were wafers, biscotti, mint cookies and pumpkin pie! It was awesome. There's also leftovers, so the next few days will be very chaotic, and us kids will be bouncing off walls! Okay well now I'm going to go write my corner view. Bye!

Corner View~Garden

Gardens are so beautiful. Full of colorful plants full of life. Sunlight shining on the leaves.
My mom is a serious gardener. She grows all kinds of herbs! Mint, rosemary, and a whole bunch of others. She grows all kinds of basil. Especially tulsi. Tulsi is an Indian type of basil. In India, tulsi is considered sacred. It is used for healing. Well, since my mom is constantly out in the garden, she's constantly eating tulsi. One time, she was out there, bending over, talking on the phone, and eating tulsi. Well that was a big mistake. All of a sudden the air was filled with: "Cough, cough, hack, hack!!!"
My mom was choking! She had accidentally leaned the wrong way, and now she was choking on tulsi! Well the rest of the story is not very pretty, because for the next 20 minutes, my mom was coughing up tulsi! I was a little scared. She eventually cleared her lungs, but it was a pretty close call. Corner View~Animals

How did man and animal first start bonding? That's my question.

The thing is, lots of animals have relationships with each other. There are pictures online of things like a giraffe nuzzling a koala, or a cat and dog together (because they're not always enemies), being friends. Our relationship with animals is just like that, because we're creatures too. To animals, we are animals.

That's the good thing about us and animals. The bad thing is this: We use horses for riding, dogs for guarding, cows for milking, and pigs for garbage disposals And how do we pay them back? Sometimes, by killing them for meat (that mostly refers to cows and pigs.)

We put all kinds of animals in zoos, so we can get payed for them to be in a cage. Of course we give back to them here. We provide them food and safety from their predators. But of course, we don't tell the elephants that their cousins are being killed for their tusks. Or the leopards that their cousins are being killed for their skins. We are friends to some animals (like a dog or cat) and enemy to others (like a cockroach). Sometimes some of us are friends to a certain animal, and some of us enemies. (Example: Mice. Some people have them for pets, and others try to kill them with mouse traps.) Sometimes it depends on what country you're in. America feeds ducks, and France kills them for meat. India considers cows sacred, and America kills them for meat.

On the internet I found so many beautiful pictures of animals, I just had to show you all of my favorites.

Corner View~Earth Day

Happy Earth Day! A great day isn't it? It celebrates taking care of our beautiful home, the earth. I'd like to talk about some activities we can do to help heal the earth, right here. Skylar and I made that video with our home school teacher, and entered it in a video contest (we're finalists)!

Anyway, back to Earth Day. It is really sad how much the human race has ruined the earth and I think this Michael Jackson video is a perfect example how. I really hope that we can stop this from getting any worse because humans are just digging themselves deeper and deeper into a hole, and there are living things in that hole, that we're destroying in the process. We need to start taking a break from digging, until we can repair the living things, and until we can repair the earth.

Corner View~First Year Anniversary!/Water

Congratulations, corner view! Even though I've only been in it for about a month, I have loved it. Such a wonderful experience! Also, my 13-year-old sister, Skylar, and I are the only kids participating in corner view, and it has been fun. Thank you, Mom for introducing me. Go corner view! Let's scream it! :O

Jane suggested that we share with everyone our favorite corner view post from the past, but I haven't made very many. I decided to take a previous topic that I was not included in: Water.

The other day it rained. I took photos. These are my photo results:

Mind Science

I didn't do corner view but decided to write this instead.

I was thinking. The world is progressing so fast in technology (which is apparently a good thing.) When you think "future," you think floating houses, and computers doing everything. That seems cool right? Right. But if the world keeps up what they're doing, it's gonna end up a lot different. We'll be advanced in science and everything, but the whole world is going to be falling apart as well. There are two main types of knowledge, scientific and intellectual knowledge, and spiritual knowledge.

If each of those were on a side of a scale representing the human mind at present, intellectual knowledge would be way heavier. And the scale would just be getting less and less balanced, until finally one side of the scale will be so heavy, that the scale would break. It's like that. It's good to absorb knowledge, but most of this world is only absorbing one side of it. If we get too "smart," we'll eventually just destroy ourselves.

You want an example? Wars. If we're constantly getting smarter and making new inventions, we should get it in our "big" brains that wars are horrible and childish. I think we should consider taking a break from exploring the outer galaxy, when we can't even explore our inner selves enough to stop wars and suffering, and to save our own world from things like global warming. I'm not saying it's not good to learn, but like I said, we need to start absorbing the knowledge from the other side of the scale as well, the spiritual side. Please think about what I said, and do your part to save this planet.
